Deal of the Year
INSIDER MAGAZINE

This is what Insider said......The picks-and-shovels merchants of the internet revolution get my vote. The dot-com sector is having trouble with investor confidence and there will be many more business failures and forced consolidations as a result. But the internet is here to stay and e-commerce will develop accordingly.

This means that TeleCity, a company that makes the internet work more easily, must be on the shortlist. So must KMS as the provider of what looks like becoming a valuable software tool. The third candidate is Target Express, for without reliable deliveries, the internet and e-commerce are useless.

However, TeleCity is up against formidable competition and is finding life in Europe tougher than expected. It will succeed in the end, but is at the mercy of a brutal stock market in terms of its perceived worth. So is KMS, but we should see it do better as sales of its revolutionary new generation of software start to build.

This leaves Target Express. Its great advantage is that it is backed by professional investors who know a good thing when they see it. Its managers and workers can avoid the distraction of logging on to the internet every hour to check the share price and worry about it. Target has clear targets and big prospects. Someone has to deliver the goods in the end. It must be deal of the year.
