Having gained a degree in Computer Science at Manchester University, Paul joined Coopers & Lybrand. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1975, he spent three years post qualification with Coopers & Lybrand, firstly in computer audit and latterly in the insolvency department. He joined County Bank's corporate finance department in 1978 before joining Rickitt Mitchell in 1981.

Having spent over twenty-five years in corporate finance, Paul has a broad experience of M&A, private equity investment and public advisory work.

He is non-executive chairman of NCC Group plc and  is a non-executive director of Styles & Wood Group plc.
