Rickitt Mitchell celebrates International Women's Day

To kick off International Women’s Day, we spoke to the female leaders at Rickitt Mitchell to get their views and advice when considering a career in corporate finance.

Naomi Hill, Corporate Finance Executive, discusses the importance of building a corporate finance network, and the value of gaining one-to-one advice.

"Be driven and be confident, especially within the corporate finance network.  Don't be afraid to connect with someone on Linked in and go for a coffee - most peole would be more than happy to talk about their own experiences! Personally, it was one of the best decisions I ever made."

We discussed the importance of attracting more women to pursue a career in corporate finance and what advice we would give to someone just starting out in the industry and what steps we can take to retain this female talent. Another issue throughout the professional services community is under representation of women in senior roles, we discussed what we can do to address this by supporting and enabling women in our industry to maintain their career paths.

Charlotte Potts, Corporate Finance Manager, shares her thoughts on how to overcome long-standing industry biases and the importance of embracing risk.

"Don't be deterred by the male-dominated nature of our industry.  See it as an opportunity to work hard, be successful, and stand out from the crowd.  Don't limit yourself because of the fear of how something might play out, take the leap and enjoy the journey.

Victoria Molloy, Office Manager, highlighted the importance of flexible working and how it can play a huge role in achieving increased female representation in senior roles.

"Implementing family friendly policies, enables women to maintain their career paths, ultimately this will lead to increased female representation at higher levels.  This will help in overcoming the big challenges of underrepresentation in senior roles across our industry, it's time flexibility is prioritised.
