Rickitt Mitchell has advised Foresight Group ("Foresight"), a leading regional private equity and real assets investment manager, and the incoming CEO, Cary Rankin, on the investment into Mulberry Bush Nursery Group (“Mulberry Bush”), a high-quality nursery operator providing early years education and childcare across Greater Manchester.
Founded in 1990 by the Robinson family, Mulberry Bush has built a strong reputation for high-quality childcare and early years education. Mulberry Bush operates five settings across North Manchester, with three rated Outstanding and two rated Good by Ofsted.
Rickitt Mitchell were delighted to introduce Cary Rankin to Foresight and subsequently advise Foresight on the transaction, providing corporate finance support from intial discussions through to successful completion.
The investment provides a succession solution for the existing shareholders and will support Mulberry Bush’s next phase of growth through organic development and strategic acquisitions across the North of England. Existing owner Jo Kinloch will remain involved as an adviser to the Board, while experienced childcare executive Cary Rankin will join as CEO, supported by Chair Joy Chamberlain and incoming CFO Zoe Collins.
Cary Rankin, CEO of Mulberry Bush Nursery Group, said:
"I’d like to thank Neil Mitchell and the Rickitt Mitchell team for their high quality strategic guidance and support through the process, as well as introducing me to the Foresight team. Mulberry Bush is a fantastic platform from which to grow, underpinned by a talented team, excellent settings and a strong local reputation. I am delighted to be joining the business at such an exciting point in its journey. With Foresight's support, we have the opportunity to expand our footprint across the North of England, invest further in our people and continue delivering exceptional outcomes for children and families."
